Equipment Guide

Type

Equipment in MapleStory Mobile are divided into three different types: Weapons, Armor and Accessories. You can find the corresponding tabs in the Bag.

Weapons include both the weapon that your character attacks with and also the secondary weapon that gives either a PHY or MAG ATK boost.

Armors include hat, outfit, top, bottom, gloves, shoes, belt, shoulders and cape.

Accessories include necklace, ring, earring, face accessory, eye accessory and medal. Characters can also unlock the pocket slot through the “Pocket Slot Expansion Ticket (30 Day)” in the Guild Shop for 20,000 guild points.

Rank

All equipment are associated with a range of item ranks.

Item ranks: normal > rare > epic > unique > legendary > ancient

The base weapon and armors can be ranked up, while gear obtained from expeditions or shops cannot be ranked up.

Gear Sets

Gear sets are a combination of equipment that provide set bonuses (available at epic rank and above). All players will come across the basic equipment sets, though they may have different names depending on the class. These sets include: Bloody Set, Eclectic Set, Muspell Set and Pensalir Set. Although the set bonuses may be helpful, they are generally deprioritized compared to individual stats that specific pieces of each of these sets provide. i.e. Muspell Hat for Crit DMG % Increase.

In addition to the basic gear sets, there are currently two other sets obtainable in the current game version. They are the Necromancer Set and the Fanfir Set. Necromancer equipment may be obtained by Mastercrafting (ranking up level 30 or higher mythic equipment). The Fanfir Set is obtained through Chaos Root Abyss expeditions, during which completion of each expedition rewards one “piece of xxx”. 12 pieces can be traded in at the Root Abyss shop for Top, Bottom, Hat or Weapon.

Upgrades

There are many ways to upgrade equipment. The simpliest is to level up your equipment using powders obtained by killing mobs, completing dungeons or as event and login rewards.

Equipment may also be upgraded by ranking up, potentials, flaming, emblems and souls. Please refer to specific guides for each of these upgrade systems in the list of progression guides for optimal stats.

Best in Slot (BiS) Gear

For offensive and general purposes, the Best in Slot (BiS) equipment is as follows:

  • Weapon: Jaihin (CD)
  • Hat: Muspell (CD)
  • Outfit: Eclectic (CA)/Bloody (EVD)
  • Gloves: Bloody (CD)
  • Shoes: Eclectic (CA)/Bloody (EVD)
  • Shoulders: Noble (CD)
  • Belt: Blue Gilded (CR)/Rising Sun Belt (ACC)
  • Cape: Sirius (CR)/Bloody (EVD)

CD = Crit DMG, CA = Crit ATK, CR = Crit Rate, ACC = Accuracy

Note: EVD is great for AB and evading boss attacks, while CA/CR adds to damage. If you are trying to kill monsters of much higher level than your character, you might need Muspell Gloves and/or Rising Sun Belt for extra ACC. Acc belt is preferred over ACC gloves since you’ll be trading ACC for CA instead of CD.

Exp % Increase Gear

For leveling:

  • Weapon: Utgard
  • Hat: Pensalir
  • Outfit: Pensalir
  • Gloves: Pensalir
  • Shoes: Pensalir
  • Shoulders: Knight

  • Cape: Explorer’s
At Ancient rank, the Utgard (Pensalir outfit/hat/gloves/shoes/cape + Green Buckle Belt + Knight Shoulder) 5-set effect offers 10% EXP Increase.
