Early Game Gear

Introduction

This guide assumes you have created a new account or new character and will rely on the meso you earn from playing your new character. Check out our Equipment Guide if you want to learn more about the basics of equipment in MSM. If you find yourself unfamiliar with any terminology used in this guide, you can refer to the acronyms page for clarification.

Tip: The guide below describes equipment that you can upgrade. Once you unlock the dungeons listed below, make sure to complete them to obtain EXP Increase accessories.

  • Daily: Mu Lung Dojo for up to 15% Exp Increase Mu Lung Dojo Necklace
  • Weekly: The Legends Return for up to 15% EXP Increase Medal
  • Monthly: Kerning M Tower to the highest level you can achieve for the 15% EXP increase Kerning M Ring

New Character Equipment

  1. As you level a brand new character, you will receive epic equipment from growth missions. They will be tagged with [E], indicating they are event equipment. Use these event equipment for now.
  2. The star on the equipment icon indicates starforce (SF). SF allows you to kill mobs in Starforce Fields for increased experience and meso. You should autobattle (AB) at the highest SF map for the SF that you have and start enhancing your gear.
  3. Max level all of them with powders and try to enhance them to 10sf or until you reach 75SF total to auto-battle (AB) at the SF75 starforce field for more experience. [75SF]
    • Tip: Use the level and enhancement discounts you receive from growth support and events to reduce costs.

Epic to Unique

  1. When your epic weapon, overall, hat, gloves and shoes are max leveled, start leveling epic equipment obtained from Elite Dungeons (ED). Fuse the maxed epic equipment with the [E] equipment you have been wearing to turn them into unique rank armor. This is to convert event equipment into regular equipment, so you can repair them if they break during enhancement.
  2. The SF will go down by 1 upon fusing. Enhance them back to 10SF so you can keep leveling at SF75. Save hat and belt for last since they will be replaced by expedition equipment. [75SF]
  3. At the same time, once you reach level 100, you should start doing expeditions everyday to obtain boss accessories for their set bonus. Hopefully, you will also get an unique Zakum Helm and either Zakum or PB Belt. Once you obtain these expedition hat and belts, they will replace your epic or unique hat and belt.

    • Keep ALL necklaces, rings and earrings. If your inventory can’t hold the extras that you’re not wearing, put them in storage.

4. At this stage, your goal is to have a set of unique equipment that will help you survive higher SF Fields. First, enhance all of your equipment to 12SF (they can break beyond this point) to achieve 8x12SF = 96SF. Then buy an epic secondary off the Trade Station. Enhance the secondary to 7SF. [103SF]

5. The next goal is enhance for 10 more SF to AB at SF113. To estimate how much meso you may need, check out the enhancement cost table. Prioritize your weapon for more damage and enhance your armor evenly to reduce costs.

6. If your equipment breaks during enhancement, buy the corresponding equipment off the Trade Station to repair it if it is sold below 3 mil meso, otherwise use any extra unique gear you have obtained from Expeditions or Nett’s pyramid to craft a unique repair coupon in the Alchemy tab of Forge for 3 mil meso. [113SF]

Unique to Legendary

The next goal of your early game gear progression is to reach Legendary rank while increasing SF to level at higher Starforce Fields. During this time, max level all of your unique equipment.

  1. After reaching 113SF, you should have around 13-14SF on all of your equipment. You should enhance your equipment to 120SF or 123SF to AB at SF120 or SF123 maps. [120/123SF]
    • At this stage, certain classes may have trouble staying alive during auto-battle. If you find this is the case for you, then it’s time to fuse your equipment again to Legendary.
  2. Start with your weapon and overalls. Enhance them both to SF18. If you have enhancement scrolls to prevent breaks and downgrades, you can use them when enhancing from SF17 to SF18 as it can save substantial meso.
  3. Once your max level unique equipment has 18SF, fuse it with another max level unique. You can either buy it from the Trade Station if it is below 8mil for weapon and 7mil for armor or create your own by fusing two max leveled epics and leveling the resulting unique to level 20. This results in a level 1 SF17 Legendary equipment.
  4. Repeat the two steps above for your other pieces of equipment. [130SF]
    1. Enhance hat and belt to 18SF if you are using expedition equipment, but there is no need to fuse as expedition equipment cannot be fused.
    2. You can also enhance your shoulder and cape to SF18, but leave them at unique rank as they do not provide extra HP for survivability upon ranking up to legendary.
  5. Assuming you followed the above, you should have weapon, overall, gloves and shoes at 17SF and hat, belt, shoulder and cape at 18SF. You should also have an Epic secondary at 7SF. Added together, this gives you 147SF to AB at SF144 if you can survive or SF147 if you cannot survive SF144. [147SF]

Legendary to Mythic

The final goal of early game gear is to reach Mythic rank weapon and armor to AB comfortably at SF144.

  1. To maintain SF144-147, first, enhance all 8 pieces of your main equipment to 18SF using enhancement shield scrolls to prevent degrade and breaks.
  2. Create a max legendary weapon and fuse your 18SF legendary with it to create a random 17SF mythic weapon.
  3. Repeat the above with your overall -> shoes/gloves.
  4. You may also fuse your 18SF unique shoulder and cape to legendary and enhance them back to 18SF if you desire.
  5. Finally, you can start preparing for higher starforce and start contributing in bossing by buying a unique secondary weapon and max enhancing it.

Congratulations on reaching 144/147SF with a mythic weapon. You will stay at SF144 to train until level 180s-190s. During this time, you will start taking advantage of all the forge systems to upgrade your equipment to prepare for SF180. You will also have to start building damage and consider end-game equipment at this point. Check out the Mid Game Gear Guide to continue.
